Nat Fyfe makes me look good: Sandilands

AFL

Fremantle ruckman Aaron Sandilands doesn't need trendy clothes or a nice haircut to look good - all he needs is Nat Fyfe by his side.

Fyfe will notch his 150-game milestone in Saturday's AFL clash with Carlton at Etihad Stadium.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable career to date, and was on track to win a second Brownlow Medal this year before his recent suspension.

Sandilands has rucked for 106 of Fyfe's 149 games, and the 211cm giant feels blessed to have played so many matches with the star onballer.

"I've just got to put the ball within a 10-metre circle and he does the rest to make me look good," Sandilands said.

"Knowing that you've got the likes of Fyfey under your feet gives you a lot of confidence.

"It's his hardness around the ball. He can shrug off three or four tacklers at once.

"He can be so consistent for such a long period of time. He's a very special player and we're very fortunate to have him at the footy club."

Sandilands was also full of praise for Fyfe's leadership.

Fyfe is in his second year as skipper, and has taken his captaincy to another level this season.

"Nat drives the whole group and really brings guys into the game," Sandilands told the club's website.

"He's becoming a great leader. It's the way he can will a side on when the chips are down and you know he's going to dig in deep.

"He prepares like no other and it's great to see him become a life member of the footy club."

Sandilands has missed the past two games with concussion, but is hoping to return against the Blues.

Fyfe, who has served his one-match ban for striking Collingwood's Levi Greenwood, will also return.

Two broken legs within the space of seven months threatened to derail Fyfe's career a few years ago.

But he has regained his best form this season, and is on track for a third All-Australian jersey.

Fyfe is contracted to Fremantle until the end of 2023.
