TAB Betting Blog: Pies to continue recent dominance over Dons

Best bets

Head to head: Collingwood @ $ 1.55

An Anzac Day blockbuster is set with Collingwood $1.55 taking on a momentum-filled Essendon $2.52 in a Thursday afternoon epic.

The Pies hold a winning head-to-head record over John Worsfold's team, having won four out of the past five Anzac Day meetings. The past five games between them have been decided by an average of 26 points and have been high scoring affairs.

The last time they met, Essendon led the Pies by one point at three-quarter time before being overrun in the final quarter. It was Jordan De Goey who turned the game the Pies' way with three goals in the second half.

Tri Bet: Adelaide/St Kilda either team 1-19 @ $2.05

This game is split down the middle at $1.90 a piece with TAB punters finding it hard to pick a side.

Adelaide have had a meek beginning to 2019 but the evenness of the competition means sides can quickly regain ground if they find form. If the Crows go 3-3 with an away victory over a competitive team, they will have a launching pad to contend for finals.

On the other hand, It's no secret the Adelaide forwards like getting behind the opposition, but the Saints have been proficient at setting up their defensive structure. They will need to be on their game to ensure the Crows brigade don't leak out the back for easy goals.

Value bets

Head to head: West Coast @ $2.90

Some 62 percent of the money has been on the Eagles to win their fourth match in a row against the Cats at Kardinia Park. West Coast will be aiming to pressure the Geelong defence - Hawthorn were able to do it for much of the first half on Easter Monday and dominated play before wayward ball movement and slow entries allowed the Cats to get the upper hand.

Margin: First half winning margin - Brisbane 1-12 @ $4

The past three encounters between these teams have been decided by less than seven points. In Round 22 last year the lead at half-time was six points in the Lions' favour.

Line: Hawthorn -19.5 @ $1.90

The last time the two met the Hawks held the Blues to just one goal in the first half on their way to a thumping 72-point win late in the season. Hawthorn have won four of the past five against Carlton by an average margin of 58 points

Special: De Goey and Daniher to combine for 6+ goals @ $3

Joe Daniher kicked two goals in his return last week, showing signs he could rise to the occasion of finals-like atmosphere on Anzac Day against the Pies. De Goey has kicked 14 goals already this year and kicked five alone against Richmond.
