From BYOG to Frank Beamer and the Dab, the best of 2015 ACC season

With the clock winding down on the 2015 season, ESPN.com ACC reporting crew Andrea Adelson, David Hale, Matt Fortuna and Jared Shanker picked their most memorable moments of the season.

Best play: Miracle on Techwood Drive. Still trying to wrap our heads around two things: 1) Georgia Tech's only win against an FBS team was against Florida State and 2) How did 10-win Florida State lose this game again? Because this play is still too good to be true. Usually automatic Roberto Aguayo lined up to attempt a game-winning kick, but Patrick Gamble blocked it, Lance Austin scooped the ball up, looked around (ignored coaches who told him to get down) and raced 78 yards to win the game in improbable fashion. Georgia Tech captured the play with every camera angle and made a video. It's still well worth your time.

Best hair: North Carolina linebacker Jeff Schoettmer let his golden locks flow out of his helmet all season, and they consistently flashed across TV screens as he finished 15th in the conference in tackles.

Best facial hair: Clemson offensive lineman Eric Mac Lain let his red beard grow and grow and grow. If he dyed it white, he could easily pretend to be Santa at the local mall.

Best midseason Twitter creation: The image perfectly encapsulated the Virginia fan experience of the Mike London era, but the beauty of Twitter is that even a split-second panning of the crowd doesn't end that instant. It didn't take long for @SadVirginiaFan to appear and compare the end-of-game Notre Dame experience to Mother burning your pizza rolls. Maybe new coach Bronco Mendenhall has sprung hope within the fan base, as the account has been shut down.

Best con artist: Syracuse punter Riley Dixon made as good a push for the Heisman as any punter in recent memory, largely because there was no one in the country better at pulling off trick plays. After beating Villanova last season with a fake kick, he pulled the feat three weeks in a row this season. Against LSU, he ran the fake punt and jumped over a defender en route to a first down. A week later, against USF, he ran for a first down on a fake field goal. A week after that, he dashed 15 yards on a fake against Virginia. And if all that wasn't enough, he still finished second in the ACC in net punting, averaging better than 40 yards per kick.

Most overlooked season: Matt Milano at Boston College had a stellar season, but he won't even be recognized as the best linebacker on his own team. BC finished with just three wins but had the No. 1 defense in the nation thanks in part to Milano, who was fifth in the ACC in tackles for loss (17.5), 11th in sacks (6.5), had 60 tackles, broke up three passes, blocked two kicks and forced two fumbles.

Least accurate boast: There's no doubt Jeremy Cash is among the best defensive players in the country, and he was feeling his oats after Duke knocked off Georgia Tech in Week 4, saying that "The Coastal runs through Durham." It seemed that way for a few more weeks, but after a controversial loss to Miami, the Duke D imploded, allowing 233 points in its past six games and finishing four games behind North Carolina in the Coastal.

Best quote: "What I told them tonight was: Listen, we give you scholarships, we give you stipends and meals and a place to live. We give you nice uniforms. I can't give you guts, and I can't give you heart. And tonight, it was BYOG: Bring Your Own Guts." -- Clemson coach Dabo Swinney

Best locker room dance: Frank Beamer takes "The Dab" to the next level.

Biggest controversy: Miami's eight-lateral final play to stun Duke.

Most #goacc moment: The ACC finished with three teams in the selection committee's top 10 and the No. 1 team overall, but the season was off to an ominous start in July. On page 145 of the ACC's official media guide, "F--- THIS S---" was written. We're not quite sure what prompted the author's frustration.

Most #goacc moment, Part II: Wake Forest 3, Boston College 0. What, you think we forgot? Never! The images are seared to our brains for all time simply for the final two minutes. BC fumbled at the Wake Forest 8. Then Wake Forest fumbled it back. Then BC got the ball at the 1 with 29 seconds left and decided to run with no timeouts. Then Jeff Smith spiked the ball with no time left and the game ended. Have you ever?!
