Big 12 Week 13 power rankings: Oklahoma one win from playoff spot

Our final Big 12 power rankings of the regular season:

1. Oklahoma (previous ranking: 1): Baker Mayfield has all but clinched the Heisman, and the Sooners are one game away from clinching a spot in the College Football Playoff.

2. TCU (2): Gary Patterson and the Horned Frogs get another shot at the Sooners. But they'll have to play the first half without standout safety Nick Orr, who was suspended for the first half for his role in a skirmish against Baylor.

3. Oklahoma State (3): Though the fact that they're not in the Big 12 title game has rendered this season a disappointment, the Cowboys will have a chance to reach double-digit wins in three straight seasons for the first time in school history.

4. Iowa State (4): After falling to Kansas State, the Cyclones won't tie the school record of nine wins in a season. But for a consolation, they still could go to a pretty decent bowl. And with each passing day, it's looking more and more likely that they'll be keeping Matt Campbell as coach.

5. Kansas State (7): Left for the boneyard a month ago, K-State improbably turned its season around by winning four out of its past five, including Farmageddon on Saturday. The Wildcats also appear to have a bright future at quarterback, thanks to the emergence of freshman Skylar Thompson, who could form a dynamic pairing with run-first specialist Alex Delton behind center in the years to come.

6. Texas (5): The Longhorns might be bowling, but this wasn't the kind of year they were hoping for in Tom Herman's first season. Texas now faces the prospect of having to replace several key faces on defense, especially if Malik Jefferson and DeShon Elliott bolt for the NFL. And the Longhorns will enter 2018 with quarterback questions yet again.

7. West Virginia (6): The Mountaineers have yet to defeat Oklahoma, something they'll have to do at some point in the future if they're going to win a conference title again. The good news going forward is they should have the league's top returning quarterback next year -- Will Grier.

8. Texas Tech (8): What an unbelievable week it was for the Red Raiders, who looked moribund going into their season finale at Texas. Instead, they delivered their finest defensive performance in years, giving athletic director Kirby Hocutt the cover to announce that Kliff Kingsbury would return as coach in 2018.

9. Baylor (9): Despite being competitive for much of the season, the Bears finished 1-11 after the loss at TCU. The silver lining is they might have uncovered their quarterback of the future -- Charlie Brewer, who flashed potential down the stretch.

10. Kansas (10): David Beaty will be back in 2018 despite winning only three games in three years. Even if it's a small one, the Jayhawks need to take a step forward next season.
