LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears open the regular season on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. Here’s the 53-man roster with starters in bold.

Quarterback (2): Mitchell Trubisky, Chase Daniel

The Bears opted to keep only two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster, terminating the contract of veteran backup Tyler Bray. Trubisky enters the regular season as Chicago’s unquestioned starter. The Bears guaranteed Daniel, who played under head coach Matt Nagy in Kansas City, $7 million to serve as Trubisky’s backup.

Running back (3): Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen, Benny Cunningham

Howard finished third in the NFC last year with 1,122 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Cohen is an exciting all-purpose threat. Cunningham is an established veteran and the club’s best blocker on third down.

Fullback (1): Michael Burton

The Bears kept Burton, who’s entering his fourth NFL season, over backup running backs Taquan Mizzell and Ryan Nall.

Wide receiver (6): Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, Kevin White, Joshua Bellamy, Javon Wims

Robinson is Chicago’s No. 1 wide receiver, but they are also high on rookie second-round pick Anthony Miller. White, the eighth overall selection in 2015, did enough to earn a roster spot. Wims, Chicago’s rookie seventh-round pick out of Georgia, came on strong in the preseason finale.

Tight end (4): Dion Sims, Trey Burton, Ben Braunecker and Daniel Brown.

The Bears are loaded at tight end because Shaheen is likely to miss an extended period of time due to injury.

Offensive line (8): Kyle Long, Charles Leno Jr., Bobby Massie, Cody Whitehair, Eric Kush, James Daniels, Bradley Sowell and Rashaad Coward

The Bears went with nine offensive linemen on their original 53, saving a spot for former third-round pick Hroniss Grasu. Whether Grasu is around for the long haul remains to be seen.

Defensive line (6): Akiem Hicks, Eddie Goldman, Jonathan Bullard, Roy Robertson-Harris, Bilal Nichols and Nick Williams.

Hicks is coming off a career year with 8.5 sacks and 15 tackles for loss. Bullard and Robertson-Harris are both expected to see time on the defensive line.

Linebacker (10): Khalil Mack, Leonard Floyd, Danny Trevathan, Roquan Smith, Sam Acho, Nick Kwiatkoski, Aaron Lynch, Joel Iyiegbuniwe, Isaiah Irving, Kylie Fitts.

Mack is a game-changer. The former Oakland Raider has 40.5 sacks over the past four years.

Cornerback (6): Kyle Fuller, Prince Amukamara, Bryce Callahan, Sherrick McManis, Marcus Cooper, Kevin Toliver

The Bears paid Fuller and Amukamara big money in the offseason to anchor the secondary.

Safety (4): Eddie Jackson, Adrian Amos, Deon Bush, DeAndre Houston-Carson

Jackson and Amos played well for the Bears last season. Houston-Carson battled an injury during part of the preseason but still made the cut.

Kicker (1): Cody Parkey

The Bears aggressively targeted Parkey in free agency, guaranteeing him $9 million.

Punter (1): Pat O'Donnell

Chicago brought O’Donnell back on a one-year deal in the offseason.

Long-snapper (1): Patrick Scales

Scales would have been the Bears' starting long-snapper last year had he not suffered a season-ending injury.
