All 11 Packers offensive starters (and most of No. 1 defense) sit in preseason finale

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It would almost be easier to list those who did suit up for the Green Bay Packers preseason finale against the Rams than the ones who did not.

Coach Mike McCarthy scratched his entire starting offense and most of the defense.

The only potential starters in uniform on Thursday were inside linebackers Blake Martinez and Jake Ryan plus cornerback Davon House. And the only reason House played was because he had missed the last three games because of a hamstring injury and they wanted to get him some work before the regular-season opener against Seattle.

House played the first series -- only three plays -- and then was done.

Top draft pick Kevin King would have played if not for a groin injury. King practiced this week, so it’s not clear when he was injured. The other unexpected scratch was backup fullback Joe Kerridge with a calf injury.

A total of 28 players did not dress for the Packers, including offensive starters: quarterback Aaron Rodgers; receivers Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Randall Cobb; tight end Martellus Bennett; running back Ty Montgomery; and the starting offensive line of David Bakhtiari, Lane Taylor, Corey Linsley, Jahri Evans and Bryan Bulaga. The only injured player among the offensive starters was Bulaga, who has an ankle injury. Other offensive players who sat out were: Kerridge, backup center Don Barclay (ankle), and guard Lucas Patrick (concussion).

Rodgers played just three series in two preseason games this summer. Last year, he played just two series in one game.

On defense, the starters who did not dress were: linemen Mike Daniels, Kenny Clark and Dean Lowry (knee); outside linebackers Clay Matthews (groin) and Nick Perry (ankle); and safeties Ha Ha Clinton-Dix (knee) and Morgan Burnett. The other defensive players out were: defensive tackle Montravius Adams (foot), linebacker Jayrone Elliott (back), safety Jermaine Whitehead (hip), cornerback Demetri Goodson (knee), linebacker Vince Biegel (foot) and linebacker Jordan Tripp (concussion).
