It will surprise no one if the 2014-15 Philadelphia 76ers win fewer games than the 1972-73 Sixers that went 9-73.

But that's not the only slice of NBA history within reach for P‎hilly's, uh, lottery-minded current cast.

‎Saturday's official signing of Robert Covington, which we've been tweeting about since Tuesday, means that these Sixers have had nine undrafted players on the roster already.

And it's only mid-November.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, only two teams have ever fielded more undrafted players in a single season: Atlanta and Golden State with 10 in 2002-03 and 2009-10, respectively.

You really have to the like the Sixers' chances of getting to at least 11 once you remember that they signed four undrafted players after Jan. 1 last season ... with three of those signings coming after the February trade deadline.

The nine undrafted players employed by Philly so far: Brandon Davies, Drew Gordon, Chris Johnson, JaKarr Sampson, Alexey Shved, Henry Sims, Malcolm Thomas, Hollis Thompson and Covington.

The next-closest team this season is injury-ravaged Indiana, which has turned to a mere four undrafted players: Chris Copeland, Damjan Rudez, Donald Sloan and Shayne Whittington.

* The 10 undrafted players used by the 2009-10 Warriors en route to a 26-56 mark: Kelenna Azubuike, Raja Bell, Chris Hunter, Coby Karl, Cartier Martin, Mikki Moore, Anthony Morrow, Anthony Tolliver, C.J. Watson and Reggie Williams.
