Abby Wilson, James Madison Memorial High School

Year:Senior.

Sports: Basketball, track and field, volleyball.

Sports highlights: Abby is three-time team captain and a two-time letterwinner as a shooting guard and small forward in basketball. As a senior, she is averaging 4.1 points per game. She scored a career-high 18 points, including sinking four 3-pointers, in a victory over Madison West. She averaged 3.9 points per game as a junior. She averaged 5.9 points per game and set a school record for most 3-pointers made in a season with 34 her sophomore year.

She competed in track and field as a freshman and sophomore and competed in the 200- and 400-meter dashes and 1,600-meter relay. She also played volleyball as a freshman, competing as a setter.

Pre-game ritual or superstition: I have to listen to the same playlist before each game.

Cumulative GPA: 3.7

Favorite subject/class: Anatomy/Physiology.

Favorite teacher: Ms. Glaaser.

Quick quote: “Competing in sports has taught me to: Push hard now, rest later.

Three words to describe me are: Determined, hard-working, respectful.

I got my start in sports: When I was little, both of my older brothers were constantly involved in sports. I decided to follow in their footsteps and ended up falling in love with basketball.

I wish I could play: Soccer.

My most memorable moment in sports: Scoring my career high of 18 points in a win over Madison West in basketball.

I like about high school sports: How competitive each team is no matter who you are up against.

I enjoy playing basketball because: it has taught me so much on and off the court, especially how to be a leader.

Advice: “Cherish each moment because it will pass in a blink of an eye.”

My role models are: My parents, Jim and Beth Wilson.

Most inspirational teammate: Emmoni Rankins because she is always pushing herself in both practice and games. She never gives up, and her hard work pays off on the court.

My family also includes: My brothers, Bob and Billy.

This and that: Member of National Honor Society and Key Club, which includes various volunteering opportunities … volunteer work includes setting up for school dances and helping out at the St. Vincent DePaul food pantry … have a part-time job at Vitense Golfland … played AAU basketball for Wisconsin Academy for one year and for YDC Thunder for two years.

Hobbies: Sports, running, volunteering and hanging out with family and friends.

Post-high school plans: Attend college and major in Biology.
