ESPN Seahawks reporter Brady Henderson breaks down how Seattle will be affected by All-Pro S Kam Chancellor likely missing the rest of the season with a neck injury. (1:36)

RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks expect to have running back Eddie Lacy back for Monday night's game against the Atlanta Falcons, but left tackle Duane Brown and defensive tackle Jarran Reed remain questionable.

Brown and Reed both left last Thursday's victory over Arizona with injuries and didn't return. Brown sprained his ankle in the second quarter and was unable to practice this week. Matt Tobin replaced Brown against Arizona and would start in his absence Monday night, which makes for an intriguing subplot after Atlanta's Adrian Clayborn recorded six sacks against Dallas' backup left tackles last week.

Reed left the Arizona game after only two snaps when he injured his hamstring. He didn't practice Thursday or Friday and was limited Saturday.

Brown and Reed are both listed as questionable.

"We're going to go right up to game time with both those guys," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "Jarran got pretty good work today, a little bit more than Duane did at this time. We're just kind of waiting all the way through the entire expanse of this break here to see if we can max it for Duane."

Lacy missed the Arizona game after injuring his groin against Washington the previous game. It's not clear how the Seahawks will divvy up the workload among their running backs Monday night, but Lacy was getting a shot to take over as the starter ahead of Thomas Rawls when he went down. Seattle also promoted Mike Davis from the practice squad this week while placing C.J. Prosise on injured reserve.

Strongside linebacker Michael Wilhoite has been ruled out for this week with a calf injury. Terence Garvin will start in his place.

With strong safety Kam Chancellor also ruled out, cornerback Richard Sherman on IR and Reed questionable, Seattle could be missing four starters against Atlanta, though strongside linebacker is essentially a part-time position in their defense. Chancellor will likely miss the rest of the season because of a neck injury, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson.

Carroll was optimistic about left guard Luke Joeckel returning to practice next week, saying he was close to doing so this week. Joeckel has missed the past four games while recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery.
