Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer of retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., has pleaded not guilty to charges that he assaulted a woman in September, according to court records obtained by USA Today. Mayweather Sr., 65, was charged Jan. 16 with misdemeanor assault and battery for allegedly punching a woman during an altercation after the Gennady Golovkin-Canelo Alvarez bout in Las Vegas on Sept. 16. He turned himself in Tuesday and entered his plea Thursday. Mayweather Sr. is due back in a Clark County (Nevada) court March 27 for a bench trial. Mayweather Jr. has twice pleaded guilty to domestic assault against women, and was convicted in another such case before the verdict was later vacated and charges dismissed.
