Premier Boxing Champions events to air on ITV in United Kingdom

Premier Boxing Champions events are coming to the United Kingdom.

PBC creator Al Haymon and ITV, a free-to-air British network once the home of many major fights, announced a three-year deal Tuesday that will bring PBC fights exclusively to the network.

PBC has multiyear broadcast deals in the United States with Showtime and Fox and is now branching out internationally. The ITV deal calls for a minimum of 15 televised events each year. Some of them, according to PBC spokesman Tim Smith, will be the American-based cards being shown on ITV in the U.K., but there will also be several events that take place in the U.K. that won't necessarily be part of the PBC's American television coverage.

"This unprecedented deal between PBC and ITV is great news for boxing fans in the U.K.," said Niall Sloane, ITV's director of sports. "We look forward to bringing viewers big events and superb action from some of the world's best fighters in the coming years."

Boxing events will be shown on outlets such as ITV's main channel, ITV4 and ITV Hub. It will also include pay-per-view shows on ITV Box Office.

Smith said the schedule of events will be announced soon.

"We're thrilled about this new exclusive three-year deal with ITV, U.K.'s biggest commercial broadcaster, and the opportunity to bring the best boxers in the world to the U.K.,'' Smith said. "The unique collaboration means ITV's viewers are in for a special treat with PBC's world-class boxing events.''
