Pete Rossomando named coach

College Football, Central Connecticut State Blue Devils

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Central Connecticut has hired New Haven football coach Pete Rossomando to lead its football program.

He takes over from Jeff McInerney, who announced his resignation as head coach in November at the end of a 4-8 season.

McInerney spent eight years at the FCS school, compiling a 48-41 record. Rossomando has spent the last five years at Division II New Haven, reviving a program that had taken a five-year hiatus from football and leading the Chargers to a 42-13 record.

His teams went undefeated in the Northeast-10 conference in 2011 and 2012.

A news conference to introduce Rossomando as the 13th head coach at CCSU is scheduled for Friday.
