Brandon Mitchell mulls 5 schools

Former Arkansas quarterback Brandon Mitchell has added Michigan to his list of possible transfer choices, a source said Thursday.

The 6-foot-4, 239-pound Mitchell wants to play quarterback but if he were to go to Michigan he could be utilized as a multi-dimensional weapon because of the presence of quarterback Devin Gardner.

The schools also under consideration by Mitchell are NC State, UAB, Louisiana Tech and Northwestern State, according to a person close to the player. He plans to visit the Wolfpack this weekend, a source said.

Mitchell has a close relationship with UAB coach Garrick McGee, who was an assistant at Arkansas. The 6-foot-4, 239-pound Mitchell has played some wide receiver but wants to focus on quarterback.

A senior, Mitchell is on track to graduate and be eligible to play this season. He competed with sophomore Brandon Allen throughout the spring at Arkansas but was listed as second team.

Mitchell has appeared in 21 college games with three starts. He has caught 17 passes for 272 yards, is 25-of-43 passing for 332 yards and two touchdowns and has rushed 23 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns.
