Jackson State bus catches fire

A bus carrying members of the Jackson State University baseball team caught fire Monday afternoon as it was driving on an Alabama highway. The school said no injuries were reported.

The bus, which was on its way to Georgia for a Tuesday game against Savannah State University, caught fire on Interstate 20/Interstate 59, multiple news outlets reported. The Alabama Highway Patrol and a local fire department responded.

The game has been called off and another bus was sent to bring the team back to its Jackson, Mississippi, campus, the school said on its website.

"We are relieved that everyone is safe. We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers," JSU President Carolyn W. Meyers said in a statement released by the school. "The university will conduct its own exhaustive investigation into this unfortunate incident."
