Manyonga adds another gold to impressive tally

Luvo Manyonga claimed gold in the long jump on Wednesday as South Africa's good run at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia continued.

The 27-year-old, the reigning world champion, has been the standout jumper in the world over the past 18 months, and lived up to his 'favourite' tag with a Games record effort of 8.41m.

Compatriot Ruswahl Samaai finished third with a jump of 8.22m, just behind Australian Henry Frayne, who claimed silver.

Cameroon's Marcel Mayack II was well off the pace, finishing 11th with a best jump of 7.70m.

The two long jump medals see Team South Africa advance to fourth on the standings, behind Australia, England, and India.
