TCU hires Raegan Pebley as coach

Women's College Basketball, TCU Horned Frogs

TCU has hired Raegan Pebley from Fresno State as its new women's basketball coach.

Pebley replaces Jeff Mittie, who was the Frogs' coach for 15 seasons before leaving for Kansas State.

Pebley spent the last two seasons at Fresno State, where she helped the Bulldogs reach the NCAA tournament and win the Mountain West Conference tournament both seasons.

"Raegan is a true rising star in the coaching ranks and did a phenomenal job in leading Fresno State to back-to-back Mountain West championships after starting the women's basketball program at Utah State," TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte said in a statement. "Raegan is a perfect fit for the TCU and Fort Worth communities. With our postseason appearance this year and a new basketball facility for the 2015-16 season, Raegan was the ideal candidate to continue the momentum in our women's basketball program."

Mittie departed with the most wins in school history (303) and a resume that included 12 postseason appearances in 14 years. That included nine berths in the NCAA tournament.

Mittie was raised in the Kansas City area, and his wife is also from the area. Both were contributors in his desire to take the job.
