USWNT's World Cup gear gives nod to 1999 team as Nike reveals kits

Y'all, the Women's World Cup is happening. In just three months, we will be graced with amazing competition, beautiful goals and, yes, stunning kits.

The United States was one of 14 countries to unveil its kit, courtesy of Nike, on Monday in Paris.

If you think it looks familiar, you're not wrong. The USWNT kit is inspired by the ones Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, Julie Foudy & Co. wore in 1999 when they won the World Cup at the Rose Bowl. The striped sleeve cuff mimics the kits worn two decades ago. Plus, there are three stars on the shorts and sleeves, as well as on the back of the neck, to denote the three World Cup championships won by the United States.

Another gem is embedded in the back panel of the USWNT home shirts. If you look closely, you'll see the names of the 50 states on the panel.

England's collection is similarly personal. The flora native to the country -- poppy, primrose, rosebay willowherb, wood anemone, spring gentian, Nottingham catchfly and rose -- is knit together in a pattern that carries across the away shirt and socks.

In addition to kits for the United States and England, Nike also unveiled kits for Canada, France, Australia, South Korea, South Africa, Norway, New Zealand, The Netherlands, China, Nigeria, Chile and Brazil.

The kits were made using sustainable materials, with each one incorporating at least 12 recycled bottles, Nike said.

The Women's World Cup will be held in France from June 7 to July 7.
