Johor police ready in numbers for JDT vs. Pahang FA Cup quarterfinal

Extra police will be deployed for Sunday's Malaysia FA Cup quarterfinal in Johor Bahru after some provocative social media postings by rival fans.

Defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) will hots fierce rivals Pahang in the second leg, with the visitors holding a 3-1 advantage from the first leg on April 1.

Johor Baru Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh says 1,124 police personnel will oversee security at a packed Larkin Stadium.

"There must be no explosives. No weapons, No provocation or clashes between the fans. No rally. No illegal assembly before or after the match and no alcohol consumption at the stadium, or prior to the start of the game," Sulaiman told The New Straits Times.

"[There have been] some provocative postings by fans that can lead to conflict and trouble."

JDT are coming off a 3-0 victory away to Cambodia's Boeung Ket Angkor in the AFC Cup on Wednesday night. They've also strung together impressive form in the Malaysia Super League to move to the top of the table, three points above Pahang.

In April, JDT have won three MSL consecutive games, scoring 12 goals and conceding only three. On April 9, they netted four first-half goals as they thrashed Melaka United 7-0 at Larkin Stadium.

Pahang lost ground in the MSL last Saturday when they were held to a 2-2 home draw by Selangor. They also lost 3-2 to JDT in the league on March 3.
