Nacional teammate has Alvaro Recoba's face tattooed on arm

Nacional took all the spoils in the Uruguayan clasico against bitter rivals Penarol a weekend or two ago thanks in the main to a spectacular 30-yard freekick from their veteran playmaker Alvaro Recoba.

Having come on for the final 20 minutes, Recoba sealed a dramatic 2-1 win for Nacional in the fifth minute of injury time when the 38-year-old club legend curled in a trademark set-piece to snaffle the victory for his side with what transpired to be the last meaningful kick of the game.

Already besotted by the fact that he gets to work and play alongside his footballing idol on a daily basis, 19-year-old Nacional youngster Gaston Pereiro immediately went out after the clasico victory and had Recoba's face tattooed on his forearm in tribute to his hero.

"I found no better way to honour my idol than taking him everywhere with me forever," Pereiro told Tenfieldigital while showing off his new ink. "I am still screaming about his goal on Sunday! When I showed the tattoo to [him], he could not believe it."

"I started laughing and he joked: 'Thanks for making me with hair and everything'" -- a reference to the former Inter Milan forward's receding hairline.

Little bit weird perhaps, but then football tends to do funny things to people's judgement.

In fairness, Pereiro's Recoba tat is hardly the worst football-related ink we've ever seen.
