Arnie Maier to Manchester United

United have been extensively scouting teenage defensive midfielder Maier who has played 90 minutes in all three of Hertha's matches in the Bundesliga this season. Bild claim United face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal for the Germany under-21 international, who is under contract in the capital until 2022.

Ever Banega to Arsenal

Arsenal manager Unai Emery wants to be reunited with Sevilla midfielder Banega. The Argentine international's transfer is one of the first deals Arsenal's new head of football Raul Sanllehi will be tasked with completing. The Sun claim Emery feels Banega will add greater competition and experience in central midfield with the Gunners showing interest over the summer in the 30-year-old.

Gary Cahill to Aston Villa

Aston Villa will launch an ambitious attempt to bring Cahill back to the Midlands at the end of the season. Cahill left Villa Park in 2008 to sign for Bolton before moving to Chelsea in 2012, but after making 282 appearances for the Blues he has slipped down the pecking order under coach Maurizio Sarri and is now expected to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires. The Birmingham Mail claims Villa are in the running for the centre-back along with Ligue 1 sides Marseille and Bordeaux.

Ivan Rakitic to Chelsea

Barcelona's decision to deny Croatia midfielder Rakitic a new contract has given Chelsea and Manchester United extra impetus they could sign the 30-year-old. Rakitic wanted to open talks with Barca over the summer following his impressive World Cup but given he's under contract at the Camp Nou until 2021, president Josep Maria Bartomeu told him to wait. Talksport believe Chelsea and United plus French champions PSG will now consider approaches for Rakitic in January.

Stanislav Lobotka to Tottenham

Celta Vigo defensive midfielder Lobotka has Spurs and a number of other European heavyweights on alert after admitting he will assess his transfer options in January. Lobotka, 23, has told Marca he wants to play in the Champions League and an exit in the new year is a possibility. Lobotka has a €42m release clause and is also wanted by Serie A sides Napoli and Internazionale plus French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
