The transfer window for Europe's biggest clubs might be closed, but they are still working tirelessly behind the scenes to line up the arrival of their next star. Transfer Talk has been scouring the world's media to see who could be heading to your club when Jan. 1 arrives.
TOP STORY: Liverpool and Bayern Munich battle for German star
The two European giants are to go head-to-head in the Champions League when it returns in February but, according to German publication Abendzeitung, the clubs could face off in January as they look to win the race to sign Timo Werner.
The RB Leipzig forward has caught the eye ever since his move to the Red Bull Arena, with Ralph Hasenhuttl deploying him as a striker, a subtle tweak from his days as a wide forward for VfB Stuttgart. He responded with goals, 44 in 78 Bundesliga games since the move, and he's now the No. 9 for Germany.
The 22-year-old has just 18 months remaining on his current deal and Europe's elite are keeping close tabs. Bayern Munich are believed to see him as the heir to Robert Lewandowski while Liverpool are keen to add the versatile forward to their attacking ranks as they look to compete on multiple fronts.

23.30 GMT: PSG have been rumoured with several defensive midfielders whether it be Chelsea's N'Golo Kante in the summer or Lyon's Tanguy Ndombele or Watford's Abdoulaye Doucoure in January. The latest name? Everton's Idrissa Gueye.
Sky Sources in France have confirmed that the French champions have made their interest in Gueye known, although they have yet to make a formal approach for the player. The 29-year-old has experience in Ligue 1 with Lille and would fit a definite area of need for PSG.
Sky also report that Everton are not looking to sell the player in January.
22.33 GMT: French outlet L'Equipe claim Cardiff City have an "agreement in place" for Nantes striker Emiliano Sala.
The 28-year-old striker is second in Ligue 1 with 12 goals and has been widely rumoured with a move to the Premier League. Fulham and Cardiff had been reported as the frontrunners for the in-form striker and if this report from France is to be believed, Cardiff have moved ahead for Sala.
L'Equipe writes that Nantes owner, Waldemar Kita has been working with English middlemen and that's led to an "agreement in principle" to sell the player to Cardiff for around €20 million plus bonuses.
We'll see if Cardiff have a new striker when the transfer window opens on Jan 1.
21:18 GMT: Another one from MLS. Recent MLS Cup winner Michael Parkhurst is not hanging up his boots just yet.
The 34-year-old, who finished third in the voting for MLS Defender of the Year this season, is re-upping with Atlanta United.
The Atlanta captain has been an MLS All-Star in both of his seasons with "The Five Stripes", and was a major reason Atlanta hoisted MLS Cup earlier this month.
20.35 GMT: Whether Lucas Hernandez decides to leave Atletico Madrid for Bayern Munich or not, his current boss Diego Simeone has vowed to support him.
Simeone told reporters after Saturday's 1-0 win over Espanyol. "We want Lucas, we saw him establish himself. He decides what he believes best. I will support him, I want to because I respect him and love him very much.
"Each decision is personal. I am respectful. Lucas is a young boy, with a good present and a better future. I hope he stays with us. The team loves him and needs him."
Earlier this week Marca linked Hernandez with a €80 million move to the German champions, a rumour that was later squashed by both clubs. Hernandez will be a name we will be keeping a close eye on as we get closer to January.
19.06 GMT: Not a transfer but news of a contract extension in the Premier League.
Burnley have signed midfielder Jeff Hendrick to a one-year contract extension which will keep the Republic of Ireland international at Turf Moor through 2020.
A regular starter since joining the Clarets, the 26-year-old Hendrick has featured 46 times over the past season and a half, trailing only Sam Vokes (54), Ben Mee (52) and Matthew Lowton(49) among Burley players during that span.
18.11 GMT: Shifting over to North America for a moment, former MLS Defender of the Year Laurent Ciman is being linked with a return the league.
TVA's Nicolas Martineau confirmed that Ciman is in the process of terminating his contract with Ligue 1 side Dijon and will then head to Toronto.
The 33-year-old Ciman, a full Belgium international, formerly played in MLS with Toronto's rivals the Montreal Impact between 2015-17 and also had a spell at LAFC last season.
Ciman has played nine times this season for Dijon, starting seven games, for a club that currently sit 17th in Ligue 1.
17.08 GMT: Turkish club to make audacious move to bring Mesut Ozil to the country of his heritage?
Istanbul Basaksehir are the club offering the out-of-favour Arsenal midfielder a new home. Club president Goksel Gumusdag spoke highly of the 2014 World Cup winner when recently quoted in German newspaper Bild.
"Mesut Ozil is a precious player.
I hope one day our paths will cross at Basaksehir.
If he wants to be with us as well, we would do anything to get him."
A player of Ozil's calibre is likely to stay in one of Europe's Big 5 Leagues -- Inter Milan and Real Madrid reportedly have interest -- but could a return to the land of his parents and a big wage lure Ozil to Istanbul?
Istanbul Basaksehir features a pair of ex-Gunners already, Emmanuel Adebayor and Gael Clichy both among the ranks of the Super Lig club.
16.29 GMT: According to the Sun, Championship sides Middlesbrough and Leeds are set to battle for Huddersfield winger Rajiv Van La Parra.
The 27-year-old has played just five times this season for the Terriers but has three years of proven experience in the Championship and would likely benefit from dropping down a level.
The half-brother of Liverpool's Georginio Wijnaldum, Van La Parra was a regular last season for the Terriers (33 Premier League games) but this season has fallen down the pecking order under David Wagner.
15.03 GMT: Leicester defender Danny Simpson has been attracting attention from Fulham. Why? Because Claudio Ranieri is in charge of course and they won the Premier League together previously. The Daily Mail say that there is also interest from Newcastle.
13.56 GMT: The agent of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has said the Ligue 1 side would be willing to sell his client should they receive a bid of €80 million.
"You need to ask Lyon [about his valuation]," Duro Ivanisevic told Calcio Napoli 24. "They are asking for €80m, but that could go down and a compromise could be found. Serie A is a league which could interest Ndombele. He won't move in January but we will have a look in the future."
13.26 GMT: Belgian outlet HLN report that Michy Batshuayi's loan spell at Valencia could be cut short by Chelsea next month, with the striker set for a permanent move to Crystal Palace.
Monaco, AC Milan and Roma are also keen on 'Batman'.
13.04 GMT: PSG are turning to Napoli midfielder Allan as they look to increase their numbers in midfield, according to Corriere dello Sport -- and they are ready to make a €50 million bid.
12.30 GMT: Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Napoli are ready to make a move for Genoa forward Christian Kouame as they look to lower the average age of their squad.
The 21-year-old has scored three goals in 16 appearances so far.
12.10 GMT: Palmeiras have signed Felipe Pires from Hoffenheim. The 23-year-old forward has been on loan for the last three years, so understandably he's probably had enough of Europe.
11.19 GMT: Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was turning out his pockets to show that he had no money to spend last week but now he's told Sky Sports that his relationship with chairman Daniel Levy and the board is good.
"Sometimes it looks like the board and the chairman are the worst enemy of the manager and the coaching staff, the football versus the financial side," he said. "But the relationship is good and we always try to make the best decision for the club."
Just don't ask him about the Manchester United job...
11.11 GMT: Slavisa Jokanovic was sacked by Fulham before the world lost its mind over Jose Mourinho and Manchester United, and the 50-year-old says he is ready to come back to management.
"I am rested, I am ready and hope to find something interesting for myself," he told the Daily Mirror. "I want to carry on working, it's my profession and I hope I will find work for the next 20 years. Where? This world is so big that I cannot give you answers."
10.40 GMT: Are you already bored by Paul Pogba? Well sorry, but Calciomercato report that Juventus' stance on the Manchester United midfielder has not changed since the sacking of Jose Mourinho. He's still the Italian champions' No. 1 target.
09.55 GMT: Zlatan Ibrahimovic's new deal with the LA Galaxy could end up being the biggest payday in MLS history.
The Galaxy announced Ibrahimovic's signing earlier this week without revealing terms, but multiple sources with knowledge of the contract told ESPN FC that he'll be paid between $7 million and $7.5 million in 2019.
09.00 GMT: Pascal Gross has been impressing for Brighton in the past year or so but he's not interested in a move to Liverpool or Southampton, according to the Argus.

Chelsea eye Higuain/Morata swap
Chelsea want a new striker and Gonzalo Higuain is a firm favourite of manager Maurizio Sarri. The Argentine is on loan at AC Milan from Juventus, but Chelsea are keen to get involved and throw Alvaro Morata into the bargain, say the Daily Telegraph.
According to the paper, the Blues "have held talks with AC Milan and Juventus about the possibility of taking over Higuain's season-long loan from the Turin club, with Morata moving to the San Siro for the rest of the season."
Morata hasn't scored since November and Higuain would slot perfectly into Sarri's system as a former Napoli player, while Lyon's Nabil Fekir also on the club's radar.
French giants target Fabregas
It was recently reported that Monaco had joined AC Milan and Valencia in the hunt to sign Cesc Fabregas, but Calciomercato claim the 2016-17 Ligue 1 champions aren't the only team interested in the Chelsea playmaker.
According to the report, Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the former Arsenal man as they look to bring in a high-quality replacement for Adrien Rabiot, with the French midfielder edging closer to a move to Barcelona.
Watford's Abdoulaye Doucoure is another name linked with the Ligue 1 leaders but Fabregas' European pedigree sees him top Antero Henrique's list of transfer targets. The Chelsea No. 4 has found minutes hard to come by this season with Jorginho the man entrusted by Maurizio Sarri to dictate the tempo for the Blues.
BVB wonderkid being tracked by Real Madrid
A sensational star to the season has seen many of Europe's elite keeping close tabs on Jadon Sancho. The 18-year-old scored his sixth Bundesliga goal of the season in Borussia Dortmund's 2-1 win over Borussia Mochengladbach on Friday to extend their lead at the top to nine points.
Including assists, he's been involved in a goal every 78 minutes this season and his spectacular form hasn't gone unnoticed. Manchester City are believed to be interested in bringing Sancho back to the Etihad but, according to reports in Marca, it's Real Madrid who have taken a serious interest in the wonderkid.
The European champions are monitoring the situation and, according to the report, maintain a close relationship with the German club which could be leveraged to jump ahead of other potential suitors. A fee in the region of £100 million is being mooted.
Bayern Munich could lose Colombian star
Speaking at a sponsorship event in Bogota, James Rodriguez has revealed that he might have to leave Bayern Munich in search of regular first-team football.
"I do not play that much under the new coach. If I have to leave because I do not play, I'll leave," he said.
The Colombian megastar did however claim that he had "no problem" with manager Niko Kovac.
Rodriguez, on loan from Real Madrid, has appeared in just 472 minutes in the Bundesliga this season and finds himself behind Serge Gnabry and Kinglsey Coman in the pecking for the Bavarian giants. Despite not being afforded many minutes on the pitch, the Colombian creator has three goals to his name as he looks to make the most of his time playing for the Bundesliga champions.

The La Liga leaders want to bolster their defensive ranks with both Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen ruled out with injuries. Manager Maurizio Sarri wants to keep the 22-year-old and is willing to allow Gary Cahill to leave, a move which would increase the likelihood of the Denmark international playing.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to AC Milan -- 3.2
A one-time Manchester United transfer target, Milinkovic-Savic could be set for a big money move to AC Milan in January. If reports are to be believed, the Serbian powerhouse almost made the move to the San Siro in the summer window but a deal couldn't be agreed in time. Calciomercato claim a €70m deal has already been agreed.
Patrick van Aanholt to Roma -- 2.5
The Serie A side are in the market for an Aleksander Kolarov replacement and the Crystal Palace left-back tops their wishlist. Van Aanholt has been a consistent performer since his move to Selhurst Park in January 2017 and could be available for £25m if reports are to be believed.
