Diego Maradona obtains work permit, ready for Dorados coaching debut

Diego Maradona returned to Mexico following a trip to Guatemala where he obtained a work visa that officially allows him to serve as coach of Mexican club Dorados de Sinaloa.

The Argentina legend was unveiled last week as the new boss for the second-tier side. His first match in charge of El Pez will take place next Monday.

Maradona posted on Instagram in front of a private jet alongside lawyer Matias Morla and former Argentina goalkeeper Luis Alberto Islas, adding that: "On [Friday] we return to training with Dorados to select the team for Monday. I'm very happy with this beautiful club!"

Dorados are off to a poor start this season, having only achieved three points out of a possible 15. They are 13th in the 15-team league, joint bottom of the table.

Maradona, 57, is considered one of the greatest players of all time after a career that peaked in 1986 when he captained Argentina to their second and last World Cup title.

He has had short stints coaching clubs in Argentina and the United Arab Emirates but his longest spell in charge was with Argentina, who he led at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
