Fenerbahce president scraps players' flights after defeat deepens relegation worries - source

Fenerbahce president Ali Koc cancelled his player's flight home after Sunday's 3-0 defeat at minnows Akhisarspor left them in the relegation zone, a source has told ESPN FC.

Koc scrapped flight bookings for players and staff, leaving them to face a five-hour bus journey to Istanbul.

The source said sporting director Damien Comolli travelled with the squad on the bus, which arrived back in the city at around 2 a.m.

Despite the hour, a group of angry a group of fans turned up outside the Samandira Can Bartu training ground to protest about the players' performance.

Fenerbahce have won only one of their last 10 league games, having started the season with high expectations following the arrival of former PSV boss Phillip Cocu as manager.

Fenerbahce, who have never been relegated since the Super Lig began, take on Erzurumspor in a key relegation clash on Monday.
