PSL charge Kaizer Chiefs for fan misbehaviour

Kaizer Chiefs have been charged by the Premier Soccer League for fan misbehaviour.

Chiefs supporters threw objects on the field, broke down barriers and vandalised advertising hoardings following the 3-0 loss to Chippa United last Saturday at the FNB Stadium.

A hearing in front of the PSL's Disciplinary Committee will be held on Wednesday.

"The Premier Soccer League has charged Kaizer Chiefs FC with misconduct and bringing the League into disrepute," the league said in a statement on Saturday [as per the Citizen].

"This is after Kaizer Chiefs supporters threw objects onto the pitch during their Absa Premiership fixture against Chippa United on 07 April 2018 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg."

A similar, but more serious, incident involving Orlando Pirates in February 2017 is yet to be resolved as they wait to hear their sentence after fans invaded the pitch and vandalised TV cables during their side's club record 6-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pirates were found guilty last December, but as yet, there is no sign of a sentence for the club that is owned by PSL chairman Irvin Khoza.
