"Our thoughts and prayers are not only with the family of Dennis, but also with those of the other victims, whose vibrant lives were cut short.

"May you all find solace during these trying times."

Lewa was reportedly traveling to Kakamega County where he was expected to complete a transfer to Kenyan Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz FC from relegated Thika United [as per The Star].

Former Kenya women national team defender, Terry Ouko, who was Lewa's personal friend, mourned his passing.

"His death is a shock, he's someone I have known for a number of years, he was a friend, we trained and played together a while back in Mombasa," the former Harambee Starlets defender told KweséESPN.

"I would like to send my condolences to his family and friends, may his soul rest in eternal peace."
