Orlando Pirates have confirmed the capture of two defenders from Chippa United, sending winger Thabo Rakhale in the opposite direction as part of the deal.

The Buccaneers have brought in Bafana Bafana international right-back Diamond Thopola and left-back Phetso Maphanga to bolster their defence, with both players regarded as offensive fullbacks.

"Both players join the club with immediate effect and will be introduced to the coaching staff when training resumes on December 27," Pirates confirmed on their website.

"Maphanga is a defender who is in the mould of team captain Thabo Matlaba while Thopola, who was captain of the Chilly Boys, is known for his no nonsense style of play.

"The club can also confirm that winger Thabo Rakhale moves across to the Chilly Boys as part of the deal."

Rakhale joined Pirates in 2012 from the now defunct Sivutsa Stars, and after a loan spell back at his former side and Polokwane City, broke into the first team in 2014.

He has made little impact this year though, starting just a single league game under coach Micho Sredojevic.

Meanwhile, Ajax Cape Town have parted ways with coach Stanley Menzo.

The Urban Warriors have battled under the former Dutch international, and are currently lying one spot from bottom.

Early reports have former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral tipped for a return to the post he vacated in 2014.
