Hirving Lozano stretchered off with apparent leg injury in PSV match

Hirving Lozano was stretchered off the pitch in PSV Eindhoven's 3-0 win over Willem II on Thursday.

The Mexico star appeared to get his leg caught up on a hard tackle by Freek Heerkens in the 80th minute. He writhed on the pitch in pain as play briefly continued.

Medical staff attended to Lozano, who was clutching his right knee, before he was carried off to the touchline.

PSV coach Mark Van Bommel said he hopes to get a definitive answer about the severity of Lozano's injury on Friday. "I can't say anything about it now. I can only hope that it isn't so bad," said Van Bommel.

Lozano has had a breakout season for the Dutch club, scoring 17 goals in 29 league games. He has been linked to moves to clubs such as Napoli and Manchester United.

PSV are level on points with Ajax in the Eredivisie title chase, but are behind based  on goal difference.

The ex-Pachuca product is expected to be part of Mexico's Gold Cup squad this summer.
