SC Freiburg 1-2 SC Paderborn 07

Paderborn came from behind to move out of the relegation zone and above their hosts Freiburg with a 2-1 win at the Dreisamstadion. There was no indication of what was to come when Nils Petersen gave Freiburg the lead just before half-time.But a second-half comeback with two goals from substitute Lukas Rupp earned Paderborn a precious win which dragged Freiburg back into danger. With just two points separating Freiburg, above the relegation zone before kick-off, from Paderborn, who were just below the drop line, the importance of the game was quite clear.Freiburg had the chance of putting an almost insurmountable gap between themselves and one of the relegation candidates while Paderborn were hoping to move out of danger and leave Freiburg in it.It is a situation the Baden-Wurttemberg side are already quite accustomed to, and they looked the more comfortable with Nils Petersen and Admir Mehmedi combining well early on.They increased the pressure before finally taking the lead five minutes before half-time with Jonathan Schmid crossing from the right for Petersen to finish, having lost his marker.Few at that moment would have bet against Freiburg maintaining their advantage and leaving the relegation zone in their wake, but Rupp had other ideas. His introduction changed the course of the game, and perhaps the season for Freiburg and Paderborn. He brought the East Westphalians level just six minutes after taking to the field, beating Roman Burki after being picked out by a fine assist from Srdjan Lakic.Rupp was then denied by Burki as the balance of the game tipped in Paderborn's favour. And they found a winner 10 minutes from time when Rupp again beat Burki into the right-hand corner as Paderborn picked up a second consecutive league win.ends
