Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake climbed to the top of CONCACAF Champions League Group G thanks to a 1-0 win over Municipal in Guatemala City on Tuesday night.

Joao Plata netted the only goal of the game just two minutes in. Responding quickly after Municipal failed to clear Javier Morales' free kick, Plata slid his strike inside the near post past Municipal keeper Paulo Motta.

RSL keeper Nick Rimando then defied two excellent efforts from Carlos Ruiz as the hosts attempted to find their way back into the match, helping the MLS team to a vital three points away from home.
