France fail to break down Ivory Coast in goalless friendly

France dominated their friendly at home to Ivory Coast but failed to break down their opponents as the match finished goalless in Lens.

The Euro 2016 finalists enjoyed 67 per cent possession but a raft of changes in the second half -- the world's most expensive player Manchester United's Paul Pogba played only 45 minutes -- did not help make a difference.

West Ham playmaker Dimitri Payet was lively early on, creating one chance for Adrien Rabiot who headed wide, while Kevin Gameiro's angled shot was also off target.

Ousmane Dembele's shot from outside the penalty area brought a save from Sylvain Gbohouo but the Ivory Coast goalkeeper was barely troubled.

Jonathan Kodjia brought probably the best save out of Benoit Costil, deputising for Hugo Lloris, and was also off target with a header but the visitors were equally shy up front.

The second half, with six substitutions for France and four for their opponents, was even less of a spectacle.

With 20 minutes to go one of those French substitutes Nabil Fekir was denied at close range by Gbohouo, while Costil did the same to prevent Giovanni Sio sneaking a low shot inside the post.
