Liverpool end preseason with convincing win vs. Torino at Anfield

LIVERPOOL -- Liverpool concluded their preseason with a convincing 3-1 victory over Italian side Torino on Tuesday evening.

Roberto Firmino, Georginio Wijnaldum and Daniel Sturridge scored the goals at Anfield, which hosted its first club friendly for four years.

Jurgen Klopp's side have only been beaten once in their nine friendlies this summer and kick off their Premier League campaign at home to West Ham United on Sunday.

Alisson, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri all made their home debuts, while captain Jordan Henderson appeared for the first time since returning from the World Cup.

Liverpool were in complete control from the start and were awarded a penalty in the 16th minute. Referee Michael Oliver pointed to the spot after Sadio Mane was adjudged to have been tripped up by Gleison Bremer.

Fabinho, with the chance to open his Reds account following his €50 million move from Monaco, took responsibility from 12 yards out, but dragged his effort wide.

Liverpool would score on two occasions moments later. Firstly, Firmino unleashed an effort in the 21st minute that took a wild deflection and went beyond Salvatore Sirigu in the Torino goal.

Three minutes later, Wijnaldum rounded off a well-worked team move with a neat finish to double the hosts' lead.

Torino grabbed one back on the half-hour mark when Belotti nodded in from close range, leaving goalkeeper Alisson with no chance.

Sturridge was one of a number of substitutes brought on after half-time and went close on a number of occasions before converting Shaqiri's cross with a glancing header four minutes from time.
