Martinez strikes again as Inter Milan beat Rapid Vienna without Icardi

Inter Milan hung on for a 1-0 win against Rapid Vienna in their Europa League round-of-32 first-leg tie on Thursday night.

Lautaro Martinez scored in his second match in a row, netting from the penalty spot in the 39th minute after drawing a foul from Rapid's Manuel Thurnwald in the area.

The buildup to the match was overshadowed by controversy in Milan after Mauro Icardi refused to travel with the team to Austria following Luciano Spalletti stripping him of his captaincy.

The two teams meet again at the San Siro on Feb. 21, with Rapid looking to overturn the first-leg deficit in Milan.
