Monaco go fourth in Ligue 1 as St Etienne climb off the bottom

Jean Lucas scored early and Wissam Ben Yedder added a second inside the opening 30 minutes as Monaco beat Lyon 2-0 in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

Jean Lucas managed a single league goal in two seasons at Lyon after moving from Brazil but stunned his old club with a close-in header from Ben Yedder's cross in the second minute.

Ben Yedder then made it 2-0 after 27 minutes to move Monaco up to fourth in the standings on 36 points.

Earlier, St Etienne lifted themselves off the bottom of the standings with three goals in the last eight minutes as they won 3-1 at home against Montpellier.

They were behind after 11 minutes but rallied with goals from veteran Romain Hamouma, newcomer Arnaud Nordin and Tunisian international Wahbi Khazri, back from the Africa Cup of Nations.
