Paderborn midfielder sets Bundesliga record after scoring from 83 metres

The heartiest of congratulations must go to Paderborn midfielder Moritz Stoppelkamp, who set a new Bundesliga record on Saturday afternoon by scoring from an enormous 83 metres out against Hannover.

With his team 1-0 down and the game deep into stoppage time, Hannover keeper Ron-Robert Zieler came schlepping up from the back in the hunt for a late equaliser, so when the ball dropped to Stoppelkamp on the edge of his own box he was faced with a completely vacant net to shoot at -- albeit lying some 80-plus metres away.

Still, the 27-year-old was able to find the target with an absolutely monstrous whack!

Impressive stuff, and what's more, the goal capped a 2-0 victory that sent newly promoted Paderborn to the top of the Bundesliga table to boot.

Not a bad day at the office for Herr Stoppelkamp & Co.
