Player Ratings: Bayern Munich vs. SC Paderborn 07

Bayern Munich assumed their rightful position in the Bundesliga, rising to the top of the table with an emphatic 4-0 home win against promoted Paderborn.

"Plucky" Paderborn, most pundits' relegation favourites, arrived in the Bavarian capital as surprise league-leaders.

Bayern had never played minnows Paderborn before in the Bundesliga. Their only previous clash was in the German Cup in 2001, a year in which Bayern lifted the Champions League, while the visitors won the Oberliga Westphalia title.

The prematch Bundesliga billing as David versus Goliath was very apt.

Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski scored inside the opening 15 minutes to put the Bavarians in complete control.

Gotze added his second on 78 minutes before Thomas Muller applied the finishing touches with five minutes left.

The win preserves the Reds' 100 percent home record and is the 18th consecutive win against a promoted side.

Player Ratings:

Here are the ratings from Bayern's biggest win of the young season. Player Ratings go from 0-10. No rating is given for substitutes that came on after 70 minutes.

(GK) Manuel Neuer -- 7: Another clean sheet in his 100th game for the German champions. Tested by saves from Ouali and Koc, the world's best keeper was busier than he was against Manchester City or Hamburg. Now 388 minutes without conceding a goal, he looks imperious and imposing.

(DF) Dante -- 7: The Brazilian is feeling the love from Pep Guardiola again after the recent injuries to Holger Badstuber and Medhi Benatia in defence. Decent.

(DF) Jerome Boateng -- 6: Went off at half-time. Time will tell whether it was a precaution from Pep or if Bayern have yet another defensive injury to cope with.

(DF) David Alaba -- 8: Started the game at left-back but was always probing gracefully up and down the channel as Pep demands. The Austrian does everything with aplomb.

(DF) Sebastian Rode -- 7: The free transfer signing from Frankfurt started the game in an unfamiliar role as right-back. Rampaged down the right-hand side on occasion. Reliable.

(MF) Philipp Lahm -- 7: Looking younger than ever, international retirement is clearly suiting the refreshed Bayern skipper. A typically unfussy performance from the legend Lahm, without really catching the eye for anything truly remarkable. It's what he does.

- ESPN FC TV: Do Bayern play too many games?
- Yokhin: The incredible story of Paderborn

(MF) Xabi Alonso -- 8: Restored to the starting lineup and enjoyed the most touches of the ball again (167) before his substitution. Brilliant last-ditch clearance when Bayern's back line was breached. Pep is probably still pinching himself that Real were willing to let the Spanish World Cup winner say adios to Madrid and Gruss Gott to Bayern.

(FW) Mario Gotze -- 8: "Super Mario" casually opened the floodgates with an early goal, going close on a number of occasions with seven shots in total. Doubled his tally on 78 minutes and is Bayern's top scorer in the Bundesliga with three goals in five games. The man who scored the World Cup winner for Germany has a bright future in the game.

(FW) Thomas Muller -- 7: Lovely assist for Gotze's opener with a cute pull back. Crowned his good work with the final goal of the evening.

(FW) Arjen Robben -- 7: Survived the warm-up to safely take his place in the starting lineup. Bayern become a sumptuous attacking force with the Dutchman in their ranks. "Robben Reliant" is THE man Pep cannot afford to be without.

(FW) Robert Lewandowski -- 6: Broke his scoring duck for Bayern at the Allianz Arena with a rasping volley. Clearly the Polish striker's best game of the season, apart from scoring four against mighty Gibraltar for his national side.

Substitutes

(MF) Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg -- NR: Came on for Alonso for the final 10 minutes. The 19-year-old from Copenhagen will one day become a "Great Dane" but not quite yet.

(MF) Juan Bernat -- NR: Replaced Lewandowski with a quarter of an hour to play. Slotted into the left-back position, not centre-forward. Pep's imagination didn't run that wild.

(DF) Rafinha -- 6: Replaced Boateng at the back at half-time. Steady performance from the Brazilian.
