Paderborn striker gets Kramer's yellow card rescinded

Having already set a league record for the longest-distance goal scored in the German top flight (a whopping 83 metres), newly promoted SC Paderborn's Bundesliga charm offensive continued apace on Sunday when a bit of fair play from striker Stefan Kutschke saw the referee rescind a yellow card he had given to an opposing player.

Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Christoph Kramer was booked for tripping Kutschke in full flight. However, replays showed that the World Cup winner didn't actually make any contact with the sprinting Paderborn forward, who -- by his own (albeit slightly dubious) admission, simply "slipped on the turf" at an inopportune moment.

Following his sudden attack of conscience, Kutschke intervened as the official was in the midst of booking Kramer, with the official accepting his error and duly chalking off the aforementioned yellow.

Speaking after the game, Kutschke told reporters: "I walked up to the ref, and told him that I slipped. That's a given."

"I don't think I would have done it," Kramer later admitted to ZDF, still struggling to get his head around the gesture.

However, it was Gladbach coach Lucien Favre who was most overcome with Kutschke's conduct.

"That's class, class, pure class," the Swiss coach gushed after the final whistle.
