The WBA will name Edgar Berlanga mandatory challenger to Canelo Alvarez's super middleweight championship, per a letter obtained by ESPN. According to the letter, WBA "regular" super middleweight titleholder David Morrell will move up to 175 pounds for a fight with Radivoje "Hot Rod" Kalajdzic in June in Minneapolis. That bout will be for the WBA "regular" light heavyweight title (Dmitriy Bivol is champion).

Jaron "Boots" Ennis has signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing, it was announced Wednesday. Ennis will make the first defense of his IBF welterweight title this summer. It's a splash for the British promoter Hearn, who lands one of the top American fights in the world. The 26-year-old Philadelphian is ESPN's No. 3 welterweight. "To win the race to sign Jaron is a massive coup for Matchroom Boxing and DAZN," Hearn said.

Eimantas Stanionis will end a two-year layoff with a WBA "regular"welterweight title defense vs. Gabriel Maestre on the Canelo Alvarez-Jaime Munguia PPV undercard May 4 in Las Vegas, it was announced. Also on the undercard, Mario Barrios defends his WBC interim welterweight title vs. Fabián Maidana while Brandon Figueroa fights Jessie Magdaleno. With Terence Crawford moving up to 154 pounds, Stanionis and Barrios should be elevated later this year with wins.
