Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, located within walking distance of Heinz Field, is aiming to open its sportsbook Saturday. The casino will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m., Thursday, followed by the first of two test periods that runs until midnight Thursday. The second test period will take place from noon to 10 p.m., Friday. Pending approval from Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, regular operations will begin at 8 a.m., Saturday. The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the New England Patriots at Heinz Field on Sunday. The Patriots are 2-point favorites.

Sportsbook operator CG Technology took a $110,000 bet on the Rams -10 against the Detroit Lions. The underdog Lions are the book's biggest need at this point. Vice president of risk Jason Simbal tells ESPN that the book also needs the underdog Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars, in additional big decisions on Sunday.
The early betting action has set up several big decisions at Caesars Palace sportsbooks: "We need Jags, Bucs, Ravens, Browns, Bengals, Lions …. We usually don’t have this many lopsided games. We also will need the Chargers and 49ers for quite a bit," Caesars head of risk manager Jeffrey Davis tells ESPN.
