Chambers' career-high 34 lead Samford over VMI 93-79

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Triston Chambers set career highs with eight 3-pointers and 34 points to help Samford beat VMI 93-79 on Monday night.

The Bulldogs (8-15, 4-6 Southern) pulled away with 10 straight points to lead 76-63 on Kevion Nolan's layup with 4:28 left. The Keydets (7-14, 2-8) got no closer than 11 from there.

VMI scored the first 10 points of the game, but Samford answered with a 22-1 run and never trailed again.

Chambers made five 3s and scored 20 in the first half. He finished 8 of 13 from 3-point range and grabbed seven boards.

Demetrius Denzel-Dyson added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Eric Adams and Justin Coleman also had 14 points apiece and Josh Sharkey scored 12.

Austin Vereen and Bubba Parham had 18 points each to lead VMI. Jordan Ratliffe added 14.
