Galbreath helps Sam Houston State beat Texas A&M-CC 66-64

HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Christopher Galbreath Jr. had 16 points and 11 rebounds and made 6 of 8 free throws in the final five minutes to help Sam Houston State beat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 66-64 on Wednesday night.

John Dewey III hit a 3 from right baseline to give the Bearkats (15-10, 9-3 Southland Conference) the lead for good at 63-62 with 1:29 left. The teams traded jumpers and then Dewey turned it over with 18 seconds left to give the Islanders (8-13, 5-6) a chance to go ahead in the final seconds.

Joseph Kilgore finished with 28 points for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi but missed the jumper that would have put the Islanders ahead with three seconds left. Galbreath secured the rebound and made 1 of 2 free throws with 0.6 seconds to go.

Marcus Harris had 14 points and Dewey and Josh Delaney added 12 each for Sam Houston State.

Myles Smith had 12 points and Kareem South 10 for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
