Bishop earns UMKC 1st WAC win, tops CSU Bakersfield 62-59

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Xavier Bishop hit a 3-pointer with two seconds left in the game to lift UMKC to a 62-59 win over Cal State Bakersfield to earn its first Western Athletic Conference victory in four starts Thursday night.

Broderick Robinson hit three free throws with :44 left to give UMKC a 59-57 lead. Shon Briggs got to the basket for a layup with :29 left to tie the game at 59-59.

Jarkel Joiner put the Roadrunners in front, 57-56 with a 3-point play with 1:05 remaining.

Brandon McKissic was 4 for 4 from deep and finished with 16 points to lead the Kangaroos (6-14, 1-3). Bishop added 12 points. UMKC hit 11 of 28 from behind the three-point arc to overcome a 21-for-55 shooting night.

Joiner finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead CSU Bakersfield (7-12, 0-4). Moataz Aly added 15 points and Briggs contributed 14.
