Idaho closes with 15-0 run, rallies past Sacramento St 69-68

MOSCOW, Idaho -- Victor Sanders scored 21 points, Idaho closed on a 15-0 run and survived a scoreless drought over the last two minutes to rally past Sacramento State 69-68 on Thursday night.

Sacramento State had two chances in the last seven seconds, with a Justin Strings off-balance putback that nearly fell in at the buzzer.

Brayon Blake added 16 points, 11 rebounds for Idaho (10-5, 2-1 Big Sky) and Jordan Scott scored 10.

Sacramento State (4-11, 1-1) scored the first five points after halftime, caught up at 46-46 and took a 49-46 lead as Jordan Tolbert, Izayah Mauriohoohoo-Le'Afa's and Strings all hit 3-pointers. The Hornets pushed the lead to as many as 11.

Idaho fought back with a 15-0 run that included a Perrion Callandret dunk and the Vandals led 69-65 with 1:50 left.

Idaho went scoreless after that, but the Hornets were 1-for-4 shooting down the stretch, coming within a point on a Mauriohoohoo-Le'Afa 3-pointer.

Mauriohoohoo-Le'Afa and Strings scored 17 each for Sacramento State. Strings scored in double figures for the 35th consecutive game, sixth longest in Division I.
