Tarke with 27 points, NJIT beats Kennesaw State 66-60

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Anthony Tarke scored a career-best 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead NJIT to a 66-60 win over Kennesaw State on Wednesday night.

Tarke was 10 of 14 from the field for the Highlanders (10-11, 3-3 Atlantic Sun). Reilly Walsh and Diandre Wilson added nine points apiece.

A Zach Cooks 3-pointer capped a 16-8 start for the Highlanders and they held on for a 32-29 edge at the break.

Tarke had two dunks, a 3-pointer and a jumper as part of an 11-4 run to open the second half and NJIT led 43-33 with 15:34 to go. Kennesaw State tried to cut the lead, getting as close as 64-60 with 14 seconds remaining before Cooks sank the final two points from the free-throw line.

Nick Masterson scored 21 points with four rebounds for the Owls (5-16, 1-5) who have lost five of the last six. James Scott added 15 points, six assists and four steals.
