Petrie leads as Lafayette cruises past Army 81-54

EASTON, Pa. -- Alex Petrie scored 23 points and Lafayette cruised past Army 81-54 on Wednesday night.

Petrie was 6 of 12 from the field and made all nine of his free throws for the Leopards (7-17, 5-8 Patriot League). Matt Klinewski added 14 points and six rebounds, Justin Jaworski also had 14 points and E.J. Stephens chipped in 10. Paulius Zalys led the team with 10 rebounds in addition to his six points.

Lafayette shot 52 percent from the field, including 10 of 20 3-pointers, compared to 35 percent, with 6 of 28 3s, for Army and had a 39-26 rebounding advantage.

Petrie scored 16 points during the Leopards' 29-13 start and they never trailed, building to a 45-24 advantage at intermission.

Klinewski drained two 3-pointers early in the second half to push it to 55-33 with 14:12 to play and the Leopards cruised from there.

Jordan Fox scored 11 points for the Black Knights (13-11, 6-7) who have lost four of the last five.
