Oakland wins 82-66 for Kampe's 600 victory

CLEVELAND -- Jalen Hayes scored 24 points and Oakland beat Cleveland State 82-66 on Friday night to give coach Greg Kampe his 600th career victory.

Kampe, in his 34th season at Oakland, became the 15th active coach to reach 600 Division-I victories.

Kendrick Nunn added 17 points, Isaiah Brock had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Nick Daniels scored 14 points and Chris Palombizio 10 for the Golden Grizzlies (17-11, 9-6 Horizon League), who beat Cleveland State for the sixth time in seven meetings. Oakland shot 52 percent.

Anthony Wright scored 18 points, Kenny Carpenter 15 and Jamarcus Hairston 10 for the Vikings (8-21, 5-11), who made 10 of 26 from the arc.

Carpenter's basket in the opening seconds of the second half tied the game, but Oakland responded with an 11-0 run and the Vikings were only able to get as close as nine before they were outscored 20-2 over the final four minutes.
