UAB beats Louisiana Tech 74-62 behind Cokley's 24 points

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Chris Cokley scored 24 points with seven rebounds, Nate Darling scored 10 points and the go-ahead 3-pointer, and UAB beat Louisiana Tech 74-62 on Saturday to win its fourth straight.

Trailing 40-39 at halftime, Darling hit a go-ahead 3 amid a 10-2 run and the Blazers led 49-44 on Nick Norton's 3 with 15:07 to play. The Bulldogs closed to 53-50 on Jacobi Boykins' layup, but got no closer. Cokley scored seven points amid a 16-3 run and UAB led by 15 on his dunk with 3:23 left.

Zack Bryant scored 11 points with four assists for the Blazers (13-5, 4-1 Conference USA), who outscored Louisiana Tech 40-24 in the paint and scored 22 points off 18 Bulldogs turnovers.

Boykins scored 16 points, Derric Jean 15, Amorie Archibald 13 with 10 rebounds and Oliver Powell 10 for the Bulldogs (10-9, 1-5), who have lost five of their last six.
