Lee's 20 points, 14 boards lift UAB past Southern Miss 87-69

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- William Lee scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead UAB to an 87-69 win over Southern Mississippi on Saturday.

Lee was 7 for 9 from the field with three 3-pointers and got nine of his boards on defense. Zack Bryant added 18 points, Lewis Sullivan 15 and Nick Norton 10 for UAB, which shot 63 percent from the field, including 9 for 16 from 3-point range, and dominated the glass 33-23.

Trailing 36-33 at the break, the Blazers (17-11, 8-7 Conference USA) took the lead for good in the second half on Jalen Perry's 3-point play to go up 62-59 with 8:02 left. The go-ahead bucket came during an 8-0 burst that included a layup and 3-point play from Bryant.

Cortez Edwards got 19 points to lead Southern Miss (13-15, 6-9) and Dominic Magee had 18.
