Fenner, Jenkins combine for 48 pts in Savannah State win

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Alante Fenner scored 25 points with three 3-pointers, Javaris Jenkins added 23 points with four 3s, and Savannah State beat North Carolina Central 85-75 on Monday night.

Austin Dasent scored 11 points with seven rebounds for the Tigers (14-16, 11-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who hit 12 3-pointers and made 21 of 24 free throws.

Jenkins, Dasent and Ty'lik Evans each hit 3s amid a 17-2 run for a 61-42 Tigers lead early in the second half. The Eagles closed to 79-73 on Raekwon Harney's layup with 1:27 left, but got no closer as Fenner and Jenkins combined for six free throws in the final 55 seconds.

Fenner's layup put the Tigers up for good at 23-21, and his 3 at the buzzer gave Savannah State a lead 42-38 at halftime after it made eight 3s and shot 37.5 percent from the field.

Raasean Davis and Larry McKnight Jr. scored 13 points apiece, Pablo Rivas and C.J. Wiggins added 11 apiece, and Zacarry Douglas had 10 rebounds for the Eagles (14-15, 8-7).
