Mosby with 24 points as Alcorn State beats Southern 89-85

LORMAN, Miss. -- A.J. Mosby scored 24 points and dished five assists and Alcorn State beat Southern 89-85 on Saturday night.

Mosby was 7 of 12 from the field including three from long range for the Braves (11-18, 7-9 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Dante Sterling added 22 points and Troymain Crosby contributed 17 points and six rebounds before fouling out. Devon Brewer and Yalen Reed also left the game early, contributing to 24 personal fouls for Alcorn State.

Alcorn State took an early lead and held it, building it to 12 points before settling in to a 44-35 advantage at the break.

The Braves never trailed in the second half but Southern cut it to 87-85 with three seconds to go before Kobe Wilson sank two from the foul line for the final score.

Jared Sam scored 23 points to lead the Jaguars (14-15, 10-6). The loss snaps a five-game win streak for Southern.
