Hooker leads Kennesaw St. past Div.-III Oglethorpe 68-57

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Tyler Hooker scored 25 points with four rebounds and five steals and Kennesaw State outlasted Division III Oglethorpe University 68-57 on Wednesday night.

Hooker was 8 of 16 from the field for the Owls. Ugo Obineke added 17 points, Kosta Jankovic had 12 points and five rebounds. Bryson Lockley and Isaac Mbuyamba each had nine rebounds.

Kennesaw State outrebounded Oglethorpe 45-24, leading to 15 second chance points.

Oglethorpe took a 26-13 lead with 8:03 left in the half but Hooker downed a pair of free throws then hit a 3-pointer to ignite a 19-0 run that included two 3-pointers and a dunk by Obineke to put the Owls on top 32-26 with 1:59 to go. They held on for a 32-31 edge at the break.

Hooker got a steal early in the second half and took it all the way for a layup, putting Kennesaw State on top for good, 38-36, with 16:43 left.

Tom Inungu scored 17 points to lead the Stormy Petrels. Justin Hughes added 15 points and Will Koch had 10 points and six rebounds.
