Coach Lewis Preston won't be back

Men's College Basketball, Kennesaw State Owls

KENNESAW, Ga. -- Kennesaw State men's basketball coach Lewis Preston will not return next season.

The school announced the move Wednesday, calling it a mutual decision.

Preston went 9-67 in two-plus seasons at the Atlantic Sun Conference school in suburban Atlanta, including just two wins in 36 conference games.

A longtime assistant at Penn State, Florida and Notre Dame, Preston took over at Kennesaw State in 2011 after the school fired Tony Ingle because of academic problems.

On Jan. 3, Preston took a leave of absence for what was described as personal and medical reasons. Assistant coach Jimmy Lallathin took over on an interim basis, though the school said Preston was expected to return at the end of the season.
